Something is in the Air

There’s something in the air.

The kids smell it, as they have increased their level of silliness by a thousand billion percent.

The smell is that of the constant tension, anticipation, uncontrollable excitement.  They smell ‘change’.  It’s emanating in the air, and it’s strong as the smell of a Chinatown garbage dumpster in the scorching heat.

The kids know.

It’s S-C-H-O-O-L.  School.

There will be a lot of changes this year.

Jackson will be in grade one all day and Easton will be going to four year old preschool for three days a week, all morning for almost four hours.

Them be BIG changes a happening this fall in the Monkee Jesson home.

I have tried preparing them but they want nothing to do with school.  I sneakily added in some books about school in their library choices of ballerinas and spaceships.  But Jackson is having nothing to do with it.  Easty, who is usually very receptive, just wants to talk about the start of ballet.

6 days and counting. Who’s ready? Who’s not?  I think that I am not.

  1. Exciting times … I always loved those first days of school as a kid. The school supplies were what always got me. What a fun time, and I wish you all the best this school season!
