Election Day: Rock the Vote & Mom the Vote

Today is the day to vote.  Not just for the Top Fabulous Vancouver Mom Blogger of 2011 but for our new Federal Government.  Again. Is it really the fourth election in seven years? Crazy.

We decided to bring the kids, as we have done in years past, to encourage the conversation that will eventually help them understand why we take the time to vote.

I have to be honest. It almost didn’t happen.  Nothing is harder to do as a family, when certain people are cranky.   Cranky because they are tired. Cranky because they are hungry.  Cranky because it is raining.  And that’s just the adults.  We didn’t do the environmental thing and walk to our polling station because of all those reasons listed above and because two tired kiddies were not thrilled at the concept of using their umbrellas to walk the block and a half.  I just couldn’t sell it today.

But we made it and we voted.

On our way.

This way.

Voting with Dad.

A little help from Jackson.

Putting the ballot in.

Freshly Voted Family.

In the end Easty was SUPER upset.

Easty wanted to know where the BOAT was and why we didn’t ROCK THE BOAT!

  1. Love it! We always take the kids too… But this time we voted at the advance poll. Super easy!

That’s a great idea Lara! I will definitely think about doing that next time! Maybe if I remember in 4 years!
