Walk to School with Dianne Watts & Surrey’s Environmental Extravaganza!

The Surrey Environmental Extravaganza starts this April 20th!

Free events and programs are taking place from Earth Day (April 16th) to World Ocean Day (June 5th) throughout Surrey and are hosted by non-profit community groups and the City of Surrey.

The Extravaganza is an award-winning, 7 week celebration of our natural environment.  To promote the Extravaganza the City of Surrey and HASTE BC are challenging all elementary school students to the annual Walk and Roll to School Challenge.

To kick-off the extravaganza, Mayor Dianne Watts will be walking to school with our own Hazelgrove students and families on the morning of April 20th and then there will be a short assembly to follow at the school.

Go Hurricanes!

“We want to reduce the traffic on our roads to provide cleaner air and healthy neighbourhoods” said Mayor Dianne Watts. “I encourage all of you to try to incorporate walking or riding your bike to school more often, so every day can be Earth Day!”
