Who do I think I am?!

What really excited me about last Wednesday’s event was going to meet all the local Vancouver Bloggers. I even arrived a half hour early, as I couldn’t contain my enthusiasm, also I was extremely nervous.  Nervousness means that you know a lot of laughing was happening. I was nervous because I didn’t know about any of them, I haven’t even read any of their blogs.  Then I thought perhaps the Vancouver blogging scene really wasn’t that deep, hence they invited me to the event, maybe there were other starting mom bloggers like me going to this.

I learned that I am a rookie.  I am definitely in the shallow end of the blogger pool.  I think perhaps I got all flattered & big-headed when Matchstick emailed me & called me one of the top 25 influential  in Vancouver.  Yeah, right.  I should have guessed that they were just being kind or they were needing bloggers, because they also asked if I knew anybody else. Sadly, I had to say no but I really wanted to know some.

After the event I raced home to check out the blogs & find them all on twitter.  Of course, they all pretty much had business cards. I want these MOO cards that LeftCoastMama had, I loved them so much I took all three of her photographic designs she had.  I hope she doesn’t think I am greedy, I just loved them.

What I learned is that pretty much everyone has a following more than my lowly 15, who I love deeply for following, but my numbers haven’t really changed all that much since I started.  Half of these bloggers have books! Most of them review products & write reviews daily and weekly. They have awards & nominations for their Vancouver blogs, they are featured on a list of Top 30 bloggers & have articles written about them.  They have GREAT head shots & they go to blogging events that are held in Vancouver! Why the heck had I not even Googled Vancouver Bloggers before?!?

I think I have lost my mind.  I posted a giveaway on my site and already no one has commented. GAH! Oh well, then I will just have to eat all the yummy goodies myself.

I am so happy that I was invited to the event.  I met a lot of great people and thankfully they were very friendly.  I released the machine-gun laugh on a whole new lot of individuals.  With my laugh, you either love it or hate it, let’s hope they loved it as I was laughing, a lot.  I hope that a lot of them will keep in contact with me on twitter or that they slip up again and invite me to more blogger events.

Here are a few of them that I connected with in no particular order:

LeftCoastMama & Can I Get the Recipe? & The Survival Guide for Rookie Moms & SavvyMomVan

Give Love Create Happiness & Rants n’ Rascals & The Tsunami Mommy & Crunchy Carpets

and of course the man who dug me out of my migration mistake The Dad Jam.

Yesterday, I laughed at my nephew’s 2nd birthday party. He jumped with fright. :*(. I’ve many a story of people not loving the laugh.

  2. Awwwwwwwwww sweetie, as far as awards and stuff on our blogs go it’s only because we’ve been blogging longer than you. I’m going on 3 years now and I can hardly believe it. Matchstick chose you because of how you write, free, from the heart and that reaches readers in my mind. You will gain followers through networking, tweeting and it will come in time but you should feel proud of who you are and your blog because it’s truly wonderful and it was a real pleasure for me to meet you at the event. I’m looking forward to working with you in the future!

Wow! Thank you so much JP. I am sincerely flattered & what you said really means a lot to me. Thank you again. It was a pleasure meeting you & I can’t wait to work with you in the future!

If I knew how to follow you I would Naomi!!
