Bloggers are Superheroes Too.

The internet may be a big wide world but there are true, genuine, real, good bloggers out there that are willing to help you out when you have completely SCREWED yourself outta your own blog.

My adventure began when I decided to make the switch from blogger to wordpress. I know!!! WHY mess with a good thing that you know HOW TO USE, but I did, I messed with it.  All this fanfare about wordpress inspired me, I needed a change, really I just want to be able to draw a straight line through my sayings after I had typed them if you know what I mean.

Unfortunately, my research into migration was a simple link http://www.mamablogga.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-migrating-from-blogger-to-wordpress/ that my good twitter friend recommended.  It is a great link, if you KNOW what you are doing, and if you plan to self-host your site. Even with all that gibber-jabber of hosting, self-hosting, WHATEVER I thought, i’ll just do it.

After a long day at work, I decided to come home and make my migration on over to wordpress.

I FAILED.

HORRIBLY.

This left me pleading for help on twitter. Besides the messages proving I was a failure like “really? I found it super easy!” to the ones from others that said “I paid someone $50 to switch me over. Was the best money I ever spent. Heh.” I knew that I had really gone into this venture with my eyes closed & very under-researched.

Then along came my saving grace or the man who I will now I call my SAVIOUR or GOD, both work,  TheDadJam.  Immediately he replied and then said he could help. I couldn’t believe it! Someone who I met for about 10 minutes on Wednesday was understanding my dire situation, I was seriously crying, close to crying and he was more than willing to help.

I emailed my mess of Bluehost, WordPress, and GoDaddy and he solved it.

JUST. LIKE. THAT.

I offered money and he wouldn’t take it. I would link his site to mine but obviously I do not know how to do that. I hope that he will do it for me. I can offer coffee! Whole Bean, Espresso, Grind, whatever you want it is YOURS.

THANK YOU TheDadJam.

You’re my hero.

  1. OMG this post was HILARIOUS!

“I would link his site to mine, but obviously I do not know how to do that.” Oh My Good God, I’m laughing my ass off!

I’m migrating my html site (my business site) to wp soon and I’m just like, hell, I’ll rewrite the whole bloody thing…. will probably be less painful!

I am so glad that you laughed. I can only look at and laugh at how ridiculous I was, ridiculous to think that I could do it. Thanks for reading and commenting!

  2. Oh honey, I hope you saw my follow up! I migrated my personal blog to wp.com, it was honestly one button. Didn’t know you were using wp.org! Which we use for NQSS and let’s just say we are lucky someone’s sleeping with a techie! So I’m puting myself as the one who said it was easy…without all the deets!

The problem was also that I was adding a domain name & doing the hosted by another site. I msg’d FTC hoping to get some help but she also wasn’t sure. Is her hubs JC the techie? It all worked out for the best anyway! TheDadJam ROCKS! Not only did he go diaper free with his kids but he saved my blog for me.

  3. Oh me, oh my, I wrote a rather long reponse to this last night in the airport from BB but I fear it didn’t make it! I’m so sorry I claimed it was easy – I migrated to WP.com and not .org – and there is a BIG difference! New site looks wicked awesome, by the way! 🙂

That’s OK Jen. It was wordpress.com but I still had problems. I just write, I am not technically proficient but I am trying to learn. It was easy for TheDadJam, I think he said it only took about an hour & 1/2 to fix it. In the end I made a great local blogger friend so it was worth it.
